Hello,
Just came across the site for the USS Nueces APB-40. In 1969 I was assigned to her after decommissioning the USS Kearsarge CVS-33 at an adjoining pier at Long Beach. I spent several weeks aboard Nueces as CPO in charge of a crew chipping and repainting the ship. I was there while awaiting orders.  I left Nueces about Christmas or the first week of Jan 1970 for Vietnam in country. Was assigned to NAF Cam Ranh Bay Det  TSN until March 1971. If any of the old crew remembers the Airdale AMSC Brewer filling a Boatswain mates billet on the ship, I send them a Hello from the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas. I'm now a old and nearly blind guy with happy memories of my Naval Career.
